Families, couples and friends consisting of more than 3,000 participants excitedly set off at the second edition of the Skechers Friendship Walk 2019 on 31 August for the  4km non-competitive walk. This popular walk saw an increase of 50% in signups from the inaugural event.

The Walk route brought participants through iconic landmarks and Singapore’s riverscape, such as the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands, Esplanade Theatres and ArtScience Museum, which was a perfect opportunity to pose for Instagram-worthy selfies amidst the picturesque city skyline. The 2nd edition of the walk brought back fond memories from the 1980s nostalgia, with many old-school activities and snacks. Interesting highlights at the event village included a Dragon Playground bouncy castle, clearly a hit among the kids, photobooths of a real-life trishaw and the iconic orange and white bus stop, as well as traditional games like Carrom Board and Paper Ball Tic-Tac-Toe.

Wheelbarrow Dash

In addition, participants also took part in the ‘Skechers Friendship Quest’ including activities like a Three-Legged Walk and Bishi Bashi. During the Walk route, there were also team obstacles that required cooperation and teamwork which many had great fun completing with their family and friends, such as the Wheelbarrow Dash.

Skechers Singapore has partnered the Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN) to donate $1 with every registration received, which will be used in purchasing shoes for needy APSN Alumni. APSN volunteers and beneficiaries also played a special role at the event, helping to distribute water at the hydration point, as well as to give out finisher medals at the end of the Walk.

Lucky draw winner Mr James Tan and his family (first row) took home the prize of the night of one year’s supply of Skechers shoes, with Ms Zann Lee, Regional Director of Sales & Products for Skechers Southeast Asia (second row, in green)

Participants had to complete all six stations of the Skechers Friendship Quest in order to take part in the lucky draw. There was great excitement among the crowd when Ms Zann Lee, Regional Director of Sales & Products for Skechers Southeast Asia drew the name of the winner – it was executive James Tan, 53, who took home the prize of one year’s supply of Skechers shoes.

It was an enjoyable walk and taking part in various fun activities at SKECHERS Friendship Walk 2019 and we look forward to next year walk!
