In this year of the Monkey, we are delighted to be able to catch the latest production from SRT’s The Little Company’s titled “Hanuman – The Superhero Monkey“. This is an original multimedia and highly visual theatre production created in collaboration with the UK’s Imitating the Dog who bring their unique theatre style to this epic tale adapted from the Ramayana, and featuring music by Soumik Datta, one of the biggest new music talents in the United Kingdom.

This entertaining story follows Hanuman who is a brave, cheeky and superhero monkey on an adventure together with his monkey friends; they are Stacy Riley, Millie and Taylor to save the beautiful Queen Sita who is the wife of Lord Rama from the evil demon Ravana.

“Hanuman”, the superhero monkey is played by Zachary Ibrahim who carried well his performance as a heroic monkey who overcomes his weakness and obstacles to destroy monsters, defeat evil kings, rescue Queen Sita and save the world! This is also an inspiring show that demonstrates to us that if we are willing to do our best and put in effort, we can overcome our weakness like Hanuman and achieve our goals. 

This is an original and interesting production where the whole performance is carried out with partial cartoon, musical and physical theatre all in one! Audience can watch worlds and landscapes change in a split second to portray different scenes and follow Hanuman and his monkey friends into a land of myth, mystery and many adventures. Join them as they battle and celebrate their victory in making a better world.

Expect some funny and light-hearted moments where the cast, Hanuman and his cheeky band of monkey friends bickered with one another and especially the scene on how they show their weakness and fondness for banana smoothies. It is enjoyable to watch the cast as they had such good chemistry together.
