Interview with Chantel Lim, Director of Commercial at Momentus Hotel Alexandra
1) Congratulations on your appointment. What drew you to Momentus Hotel Alexandra, and how does this role build on your experience in the hospitality industry?
Chantel Lim: Momentus Hotel Alexandra stood out to me because of its strong balance between commercial performance and genuine guest focus. It is a brand that caters to a diverse mix of travellers, from corporate guests to families and leisure travellers, which aligns closely with my experience across these segments.
This role allows me to bring together my background in commercial strategy, sales, revenue management, and partnerships, while contributing to the continued growth of a flagship hotel within the Momentus Hotels & Resorts portfolio.
I was also drawn to the brand’s people-first culture and its clear focus on long-term value creation, which aligns closely with how I approach leadership and commercial strategy.
2) In your new role as Director of Commercial, what key priorities are you focusing on to strengthen Momentus Hotel Alexandra’s positioning within Singapore’s hospitality market?
Chantel Lim: My immediate priorities are to sharpen the hotel’s market positioning and ensure stronger alignment across sales, marketing, and revenue functions. This includes strengthening demand across corporate, leisure, and MICE segments, while ensuring clear differentiation in a competitive market.
I am also focused on strengthening cross-functional alignment between commercial and operational teams, so that pricing, packaging, and promotions consistently reflect the hotel’s facilities and service standards and meets guest expectations.
3) Drawing from your experience across corporate, leisure, and MICE segments, what key demand or guest trends do you foresee shaping the hospitality landscape in the year ahead?
Chantel Lim: Guests are becoming more discerning and value-driven. They are looking for experiences that feel purposeful, flexible, and personalised, rather than purely transactional.
For families and leisure travellers, convenience, comfort, and thoughtful amenities matter more than ever. Across corporate and MICE segments, I see a growing demand for adaptable spaces and events that integrate wellness, sustainability, and local experiences – areas where Momentus Hotel Alexandra is well positioned for.
4) How do you approach driving commercial performance while ensuring that the guest experience remains a core focus of the hotel’s overall strategy?
Chantel Lim: When we prioritise guest needs, commercial decisions naturally become more sustainable and effective. I believe commercial performance is closely tied to how well we understand and deliver on the guest journey. This requires close collaboration between commercial teams, operations, and the heart-of-house teams. When everyone is aligned, we can deliver strong results without compromising service quality or guest satisfaction.
5) You have led diverse commercial teams throughout your career. What leadership principles do you believe are essential in building strong, high-performing teams in today’s hospitality environment?
Chantel Lim: I value clarity, trust, and accountability. Teams perform best when expectations are clear, communication is open, and individuals feel empowered to take ownership of their roles.
In today’s hospitality environment, adaptability and continuous learning are also essential. I am fortunate to work alongside a strong leadership team at Momentus Hotel Alexandra and place strong emphasis on open communication, data-led decision-making, and cross-department collaboration, so teams can respond quickly to market changes while staying aligned.
6) Looking ahead, what opportunities do you see for Momentus Hotel Alexandra’s continued growth, and what can partners and guests look forward to under your commercial leadership?
Chantel Lim: I see strong opportunities to further enhance Momentus Hotel Alexandra’s appeal to business and leisure travellers, including families seeking comfortable, well-located, and experience-led stays.
Partners can expect a more collaborative, long-term approach, while guests can look forward to thoughtfully curated offerings, refreshed experiences, and consistent service that reflects the hotel’s commitment to quality and relevance in Singapore’s hospitality landscape.
Chantel Lim’s leadership brings a clear focus on experiences that matter most to all guests, with particular attention to families: convenience, comfort, thoughtful amenities, and flexibility. For parents, this means staying at a hotel that understands both business and leisure needs, while offering spaces and services that make family stays easier and more enjoyable.
Her philosophy demonstrates that strong commercial strategy and exceptional guest experience are not mutually exclusive when done right, they enhance each other. Guests, including families, business travellers, and leisure seekers, can look forward to stays that are thoughtfully curated, with attention to detail that creates memorable experiences. Under her guidance, Momentus Hotel Alexandra is well-positioned to continue providing exceptional service while achieving sustainable growth.
