Singapore Oceanarium marks its new PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Dive Resort accreditation with the launch of PADI Discover Snorkelling.
Resorts World Sentosa (圣淘沙名胜世界, RWS) has launched PADI Discover Snorkelling, Singapore’s only snorkelling experience in an oceanarium, enabling guests from 10 years old and above to see manta rays, sharks and thousands of animals without having any swimming, snorkelling or diving experience.
This new programme follows the enhancement of the Singapore Oceanarium PADI Dive Centre (新加 坡海洋生态馆 PADI 潜水中心) and its accreditation as a PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Dive Resort (PADI 潜水中心和度假村介绍).
PADI recognises Singapore Oceanarium as a 5-Star Instructor Development Dive Resort
PADI, short for the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, is an international organisation that trains and certifies recreational divers and diving professionals. Its 5-Star accreditation is one of its highest levels of recognition for dive centres that meet strong standards in training, education, safety and professional development.
This accreditation of the PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Dive Resort is awarded to dive centres that provide high-quality training and support divers at different stages. At Singapore Oceanarium, guests can begin with snorkelling and progress to internationally recognised diving qualifications.
Zulfli Bin Mazlan, Lead Dive Specialist and PADI Course Director at Singapore Oceanarium in RWS, said: “Learning to dive opens up a whole new way of experiencing the underwater world. Through the PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Dive Resort at Singapore Oceanarium, participants can take their first steps with confidence and continue developing their skills under the guidance of experienced professionals in a safe, immersive experience, surrounded by real marine animals.”
Mark Hedger, Regional Manager of Singapore, PADI said: “We congratulate Singapore Oceanarium on becoming a PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Dive Resort. Quality diver education opens the door to a lifetime of underwater exploration, from first discoveries to professional development. Through these experiences, we hope to inspire more people not only to explore the ocean, but to play a part in protecting it.”
Introducing PADI Discover Snorkelling
As the only place in Singapore where guests can snorkel in an oceanarium setting, PADI Discover Snorkelling offers a new way to experience clear views of marine life – such as manta rays, sharks and schools of fish – while learning and exploring from the surface of Singapore Oceanarium’s iconic Open Ocean Habitat.
Conducted for 90 minutes, this latest PADI certified programme at Singapore Oceanarium is an entry level experience designed for beginners, families and ocean lovers aged 10 and above. No prior swimming, snorkelling or diving experience is required, making it an accessible introduction for guests seeking their first encounter with the ocean environment.
Blending foundational snorkelling skills with a deeper understanding of marine ecosystems and ocean conservation, the programme provides an approachable gateway to ocean discovery while serving as a potential first step towards future dive training and certification.
PADI Discover Snorkelling costs S$109 per person and includes a one-day admission ticket to Singapore Oceanarium. Bookings can be made here.
Other dive programmes at Singapore Oceanarium
Complementing the launch of PADI Discover Snorkelling is Singapore Oceanarium’s existing suite of dive programmes, which are offered as part of its dive centre. These include Open Ocean Dive and Shark Dive, two guided habitat experiences for certified divers that offer close encounters with marine life in the Open Ocean and Shark Seas habitats. For beginners, PADI Discover Scuba Diving provides an introduction to scuba in a small-group setting, while the PADI Open Water Diver Course supports participants working towards an internationally recognised certification.
The line-up also includes the PADI AWARE Shark Conservation Specialty Course, where certified divers combine practical diving with shark conservation learning, and PADI ReActivate, which helps divers refresh their skills and confidence before their next underwater adventure. Together, these programmes reflect the breadth of Singapore Oceanarium’s established dive offerings, now anchored by the PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Dive Resort, combining structured instruction, memorable marine life encounters and conservation-led learning in one setting.
At the heart of every offering is a simple vision: to support each guest’s underwater journey in a single destination, from an introductory encounter at the surface to more advanced dive training.
