Come this June school holidays, join CBeeBies’ Mister Maker, on his first ever live theatre tour in Singapore for seven shows only from 10 to 12 June 2016! With a fabulous supporting cast and art at its heart, this fantastic live show encourages Mini Makers and grown-ups to sing, dance and make some noise. During this interactive live show, there’s a big ‘make’ to take part in, lots of audience participation and….The Shapes! Yes, the kids will be able to share the fun with Circle, Square, Rectangle and Triangle too!

Exclusive Interview with CBeeBies’ Mister Maker

Our Parenting World team is pleased to be able to interview Mister Maker and to find out more about him! 🙂

1. How did you become Mister Maker and where do you get your ideas and inspirations from?

Mister Maker was created in 2007 by a company called the “The Foundation” in the UK. After many auditions, I was chosen to be the man in the spotty waistcoat and since our first series, I’ve been able to get involved behind the camera as well as in front of it. I am one of the scriptwriters of the TV show and I have written the live theatre show too. It sounds a cliché, but being Mister Maker is my dream job. I always wanted to be a children’s television presenter – from an early age – and to be one now on a show that encourages fun and creativity, is a dream come true.

We have a fantastic but small creative team that generate all the ideas for the show. We love our job…it is a real team effort!

2. What are the joy and challenges that you faced with your role as Mister Maker?

The Mister Maker show will always have art at its heart and it is produced in a bright, bold and comedic way. The character has developed through the years and now with the theatre shows, it has taken on a new and exciting “live” life too! From a young age, I loved arts and crafts and trying to make people laugh – so now, to do these things for my job, is just wonderful!

A big recent challenge has been taking the TV show and translating it to a theatre show. The live show has a different set from the TV show…but don’t worry, there will be mentions and appearances from your favourite characters…including – for the first time ever in Singapore – The Shapes dancing live on stage! We are so excited! 

3. We are very excited to know that Mister Maker is coming to Singapore for the first time! What can the audience in Singapore expect from the live shows and any interesting thing that you would like to share about the show with our readers?

The show includes a lot of the things that make live theatre exciting – singing, dancing & audience interaction. Mini Makers and grown-ups will be asked to join us on stage to get arty and play games…plus there is a big make that everyone in the audience can help Mister Maker with. That’s the great thing about a live show…anything can happen! We wanted to create a live show that all ages would enjoy.

4. Can you share with us what is your favourite part of the show and what is your favourite shape?

I could never choose a favourite – I love them all….But the moment when The Shapes take to the stage for the first time is something to behold! The noise levels in the theatre increase…and then of course everyone joins in singing with “I AM A SHAPE LA LA LA LA!”. 

 5. Lastly, what would you like to say to our Singapore audience who are looking forward to see Mister Maker and The Shapes Live on Stage?

I consider it an absolute honour to visit and perform our show in Singapore. Thank you so much for your support, my friends…we have a fantastic live show for you. Have lots of fun, make some noise and dance with the Shapes!

Mister Maker is the ultimate arts and craft show for pre-schoolers and early primary years which teaches and entertains in fun and imaginative ways. He is a real life character who gets his inspiration to make art from everything and anything around him. Set in his own fantasy art room he collects the required things from the Doodle drawers as he creates and makes pictures, objects and other things come to life. Join in with him as he then wakes up the shapes to perform a song and dance together. Mini Makers can catch also Mister Maker on CBeebies (StarHub Channel 303) daily from 10am to 10.40am.

Travelling anywhere and everywhere, Mister Maker will visit children in Singapore – Mini Makers – and find new friends whilst getting inspiration for brilliant new makes! Join the wonderfully wacky Mister Maker as he packs up his Travelling Make Case and sets off to Singapore to help his mini-makers with arty challenges!
