In celebration of Cali’s 10th anniversary, Cali has launched a ‘No-Inflation’ Menu and a special $57 menu to celebrate Singapore’s upcoming 57 years of independence.
About Cali, founded by Neelendra Jain, a Singapore Citizen in 2012, Cali’s survival through Singapore’s technical recession in 2015 and the global economic slowdown through the COVID-19 pandemic, shows true grit and resilience of Cali as a brand and organisation. In fact, despite restaurants and retail businesses being the most affected by the pandemic, Cali has instead thrived and expanded.
Neelendra shared that “I believe that our constant investment in technology and process improvements year by year, have allowed us to develop a strong, productive, cost-efficient core for the business. By using our learnings from on-ground feedback from staff and clients, we have managed to create a chain of restaurants that allow our people to remain service-focused while using robots to manage the processes that do not require the human touch. In the service sector, especially in restaurants, the physical and mental demands on people are high. I am glad to say that Cali has managed to split up work flows, optimise them to be operated by robots or people and then successfully re-integrate them to deliver the Cali experience consistently.”
The chain has managed to remain profitable despite economic fluctuations, and rising costs from all around with this efficient integration.
“Prices have surged during the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Cooking oil is 30% more expensive, for example. When you add up the increased cost of each ingredient, total the cost of a dish would have risen between 50 to 100%,” adds Neelendra. Despite these cost increases, Neelendra was insistent that celebrating Cali’s 10-year anniversary was more important, for staff morale and consumer confidence, having survived a tough two years.
The ‘No-Inflation’ Menu
As such, Cali has specially brought back their menu from their first year, with the original dishes and ingredients that Cali launched with, and more surprisingly, at the same prices as 10 years ago. Diners may look forward to Cali’s signature Philly Beef Steak Wrap at $16.90, El Carmino Chicken Thigh at $23.50 and Pan Seared Salmon at $28.50. In comparison to the 2022 menu where mains cost between $26 to $38, this is indeed a throwback to yesteryear prices.
The 57th National Day $57 Menu
At the same time, to celebrate Cali’s 10 years and Singapore’s 57 years, Cali has prepared a special $57++ 5-course, all day dining menu for 2 persons. Consisting of 2 soups, 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert and 2 drinks, the $57 menu features popular and Healthier Choice dishes from both 2012 and 2022. Cali was recognised as a Healthier Dining Partner by Singapore’s Health Promotion Board, and granted the Singapore Quality Class (Service) (SQC) Award for Business Excellence in 2018 and Jun 2019 respectively, after stringent assessments by the authorities. SQC, especially, is notoriously difficult for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to attain.
