Interview with Martin Capstick, Founder of Glow Festival by Prudential

1. Glow Festival has come a long way since its debut in 2019. Looking back, what inspired you to create Glow Festival, and what has been the most rewarding part of seeing it grow over the years?
Martin Capstick: From the very beginning, my ambition was to build a large-scale, joyous festival experience that brings people together and makes wellness more inclusive, accessible, inspiring and relevant to everyday life.
When Glow Festival launched in 2019, people were already becoming more conscious about their health and wellbeing. Since then, particularly in the years following the pandemic, we’ve seen wellness evolve dramatically. Today, it’s no longer defined solely by fitness or healthy eating. People are placing greater emphasis on mental wellbeing, recovery, creativity, meaningful experiences and genuine human connection.
That shift has reinforced the vision we had for Glow from the very beginning, to create a festival that reflects the many different ways people experience wellness. Watching Glow Festival grow from a one-day event into a multi-day festival that brings together movement, mindfulness, creativity, music and community has been incredibly rewarding. Seeing families, friends and individuals come together to discover wellness in their own way reminds us why we started this journey.
2. Glow Festival 2026 is being described as the biggest and most immersive edition yet. What excites you the most about this year’s festival, and what makes it stand out from previous editions?
Martin Capstick: This year we’re bringing together over 70 wellness sessions across eight immersive festival zones, alongside our strong music lineup with headliners including Jason Derulo, HYUKOH and Alessia Cara. The programme has been intentionally designed to be accessible to everyone, whether you’re deeply immersed in wellness or simply looking to explore something new.
More importantly, we’ve created a true day-to-night experience. Families and attendees can start their morning with yoga overlooking the sea, attend recovery and mindfulness sessions throughout the day, enjoy incredible food and community experiences, and end the evening with world-class live music. It reflects the way people increasingly approach wellness, as something holistic, social and integrated into everyday life. The beauty of Glow is that there are no fixed ways to experience it, you can move, create, learn, relax and connect all at your own pace, within a welcoming festival environment.
3. This year marks the beginning of a new three-year partnership with Sentosa Development Corporation, Singapore Tourism Board and Prudential. How important is this collaboration in helping you realise your long-term vision for Glow Festival?
Martin Capstick: This partnership marks an important milestone for Glow Festival because it enables us to think beyond delivering an annual event and focus on building a long-term platform that can contribute meaningfully to Singapore’s wellness ecosystem.
Together with Prudential, Sentosa Development Corporation and the Singapore Tourism Board, we share a common ambition of establishing Glow as a globally recognised wellness festival born and bred in Singapore. Their support allows us to strengthen our programming, attract leading international talent, deepen community engagement and continue creating distinctive experiences for both local and international audiences.
Just as importantly, this three-year collaboration provides the continuity to grow thoughtfully and sustainably. It gives us the opportunity to continually evolve the festival, strengthen Singapore’s position as a wellness destination, and create lasting value for the communities we serve. We see this as the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Glow Festival, and we’re looking forward to what we can achieve together over the coming years.
4. Wellness means different things to different people. How do you ensure Glow Festival remains inclusive and accessible for people of all ages, fitness levels and backgrounds while creating an experience that everyone can enjoy?
Martin Capstick: Inclusivity has always been one of our core principles. Wellness isn’t one size fits all, and we recognise that everyone starts from a different place. We’ve always been intentional about making Glow inclusive regardless of age or experience level.
This year, we’ve expanded Glow across eight festival zones, each offering a different way to experience wellness and allowing every visitor to curate their own wellness journey based on what they need most at that moment. Whether they’re looking to move, recover, create, connect or simply unwind, there’s something for everyone.
Glow Miles: Visitors can start their day with music-powered beach runs along Sentosa’s coastline, accompanied by a roaming DJ to keep the energy high.
Flow Studio: Dedicated movement space that will host a diverse lineup of classes throughout the festival, including yoga, pilates, barre, mobility training and functional fitness sessions.
Mind Oasis: A calming sanctuary focused on mental wellbeing, featuring guided meditation, breathwork and mindfulness sessions, alongside intimate conversations on topics such as stress management, sleep optimisation and sustainable wellbeing.
Recharge Bay: A recovery space where attendees can cool down, hydrate and reset through experiences such as saunas, cold plunges, TCM-inspired therapies, guided stretching and recovery treatments.
Makers Meadow: A hands-on creative zone where attendees can take part in workshops ranging from art jamming and mosaic coaster making to other mindful craft activities.
Cupola Stage: The heart of the festival that transforms the main stage for headline performances by artists including Jason Derulo, HYUKOH, Alessia Cara and more.
Glow Commons: A social hub featuring a curated line-up of food and beverage concepts, including the exclusive Blue Smoke x Bobby Supatra collaboration alongside local favourites such as BerryBar and KORIO.
Family Grove: A space where families and friends can relax, reconnect and enjoy the festival atmosphere together.
We’ve also made the festival more accessible for families, with free admission for children under 12, because we want wellness to be something families can experience together rather than individually.
Ultimately, Glow is designed as a festival where everyone can participate in their own way, creating meaningful experiences together while discovering that wellness can be enjoyable, social and relevant at every stage of life.
5. Glow Festival uniquely brings together wellness experiences with live music performances by internationally renowned artists. What inspired you to create a festival that combines wellness, entertainment and community into one immersive experience?
Martin Capstick: I’ve always believed that wellness isn’t just about exercise. It’s also about joy, connection, creativity and shared experiences. Music has an incredible ability to bring people together and create moments of collective energy. By combining movement, mindfulness, recovery, food, culture and music, we’re creating an environment that reflects how people want to experience wellbeing today, not as a task, but as a lifestyle. For me, sports and music have always been powerful ways to do that, so bringing them together at Glow felt like a natural evolution.
At its heart, Glow is about creating meaningful experiences that people can share with friends, family and even complete strangers. That’s why Glow goes beyond traditional fitness events. We wanted to create a space that reflects the full spectrum of wellbeing today, where movement, mindfulness, music, creativity and community all come together. If people leave feeling healthier, happier, more connected and inspired to live well in their own way, then we’ve achieved what we set out to do.
6. With more than 70 wellness sessions and six immersive festival zones, is there a particular experience or highlight that you’re especially excited for visitors to discover this year, and why?
Martin Capstick: One of the things I’m most excited about is the variety of experiences available. Visitors can train with internationally renowned instructors like Joe Wicks, Chontel Duncan and Emi Wong, recover at Recharge Bay, explore mindfulness practices at Mind Oasis, or participate in creative workshops at Makers Meadow.
Personally, I’m excited about how the different zones encourage discovery. People may arrive for one specific session but end up finding something completely unexpected that resonates with them. Those moments of exploration are often what make the festival memorable.
7. Having spent more than 30 years shaping sports, lifestyle, health and wellness events across Asia, how have you seen people’s attitudes towards health and wellbeing evolve, and what trends do you believe will shape the future of wellness?
Martin Capstick: The biggest shift has been the move from viewing wellness purely through the lens of fitness to seeing it as a more holistic lifestyle.
People today are paying greater attention to recovery, mental wellbeing, sleep, nutrition, social connection and longevity. There’s also a growing desire for social experiences that bring people together, which is why community has become such an important part of modern wellness.
I always feel that forging human connections is central to the idea of holistic well-being. It has been proven to have profound and lasting effects on our overall health and quality of life. Therefore, looking ahead, I believe we’ll continue to see greater integration between physical health, mental wellbeing and meaningful human connections.
8. Throughout your career, you’ve successfully launched and managed numerous large-scale events across Asia. What leadership principles or personal values have guided you in building successful and enduring event brands?
Martin Capstick: I’ve always believed that successful events start with purpose. If you understand why you’re creating something and the value it brings to people, it becomes much easier to make decisions and stay focused over the long term.
I’ve also learned the importance of collaboration. Events of this scale are never built by one person. They’re built through strong partnerships, talented teams and shared ambition. Staying adaptable, listening to your audience and continuously evolving are equally important.
9. Singapore is increasingly recognised as a leading wellness destination. In your view, what unique role does Glow Festival play in strengthening Singapore’s position as a wellness destination for both locals and international visitors?
Martin Capstick: Glow Festival showcases the best of what Singapore can offer as a wellness destination. We bring together international wellness leaders, homegrown talent, hospitality partners and cultural experiences in one integrated platform.
Our partnership with Sentosa also allows us to showcase the island’s unique natural environment as part of the experience. Together, these elements create something that is distinctly Singaporean while appealing to a global audience. We hope Glow continues to contribute to Singapore’s growing reputation as a destination where wellbeing, lifestyle and culture intersect.
10. For our readers who are looking forward to attending Glow Festival 2026, what can they expect from this year’s festival, and what makes this edition one they shouldn’t miss?
Martin Capstick: This year’s Glow Festival is our biggest and most immersive edition. Whether you’re coming for the world-class wellness sessions, creative experiences, incredible food, or live performances from global artists like Jason Derulo, Hyukoh and Alessia Cara, there’s truly something for everyone. With more than 70 wellness sessions and six immersive festival zones to explore, no two experiences will be the same.
What makes Glow special is that you don’t need to be a wellness enthusiast to enjoy it. Come with your kids, your partner, your friends, your parents, or even on your own. From family-friendly activities and creative experiences to fitness sessions, mindfulness workshops and live entertainment, it’s all about feeling good, having fun and connecting with others. At the end of the day, it’s about creating shared experiences and memories that we all can carry with us long after the festival ends.
