Resorts World Sentosa’s flagship community festival opened with the Steps of Hope walkathon, bringing together more than 3,000 participants in support of more inclusive and empowered communities.

Resorts World Sentosa (RWS, 圣淘沙名胜世界) has contributed over S$2 million in monetary and in-kind support to the President’s Challenge, with more than S$800,000 raised at its inaugural RWS Cares Festival earlier this morning through the Steps of Hope walkathon. Graced by Guest-of-Honour President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the walkathon brought together more than 3,000 participants, including community partners, beneficiaries and RWS team members, in support of  three President’s Challenge beneficiaries – Autism Resource Centre (Singapore), MILK (Mainly I Love Kids) Fund and TomoWork. In a first for the event, participants walked through the resort’s three attractions – Universal Studios Singapore, Singapore Oceanarium and Adventure Cove Waterpark – cheered on by its largest lineup of iconic characters for a fun-filled morning in support of more inclusive and empowered communities.

The two-day RWS Cares Festival continues till 23 August with the Green Living Fair at Singapore Oceanarium’s Research and Learning Centre, creating opportunities for members of the public to give, learn, and participate. Visitors can check out eco-friendly products from local brands and social enterprises, participate in hands-on workshops, engage with interactive booths, enjoy performances by artists of all abilities, and discover practical ways to adopt more sustainable lifestyle choices. All proceeds from the Green Living Fair goes straight to the social enterprise vendors.

The festival opened with a donation presentation to the President’s Challenge by RWS Chairman Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, followed by the official flag-off of the Steps of Hope walkathon by President Tharman.

Participants of all ages embarked on a 1.4km journey through Universal Studios Singapore, WEAVE, Singapore Oceanarium and Adventure Cove Waterpark, transforming some of RWS’ most iconic spaces into a vibrant showcase of community spirit. Many fan-favourite characters such as Illumination’s Minions, DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda and Shrek and POP MART’s Twinkle Twinkle greeted and cheered on the participants throughout the walk.

“Drawing more than 3,000 participants, the inaugural RWS Cares Festival was more than a walk. They showed what is possible when a community comes together to make a difference. The strong support for the festival reflects a shared commitment to giving back, and through our partnership with President’s Challenge, we are proud to turn that collective spirit into meaningful impact for those who need it most. Together, every step counts, and every step brings hope,” said Lee Shi Ruh, Chief Executive Officer, Resorts World Sentosa.

Beyond the festival, RWS Cares serves as Resorts World Sentosa’s corporate social responsibility and community engagement programme, advancing its commitment to the local community through initiatives focused on education, climate action, and support for local enterprises.
