Celebrate Singapore’s Favourite Flavours at RWS’s I LOVE SG Pop-Up
From 30 July to 23 August, celebrate Singapore’s birthday at RWS’s I LOVE SG Pop-Up, where beloved local flavours are reimagined as collectible plushies. Inspired by familiar Singaporean favourites such as kopi, kaya toast, chili crab and traditional kueh, the pop-up transforms everyday treats into adorable soft toys that guests can collect, interact with and even ‘cook’ in imaginative play experiences. Set on Level 1 within WEAVE, RWS’s lifestyle and retail destination, the activation blends local culture, nostalgia and family-friendly fun in a light-hearted tribute to the flavours and memories that generations of Singaporeans have grown up with.
Browse specially curated merchandise and look out for appearances by the charming Mr. Merlion mascot on 1 and 2 August at 2pm and 3pm. Visitors can also enjoy live ‘cooking’ demonstrations on the same dates, where they can watch, snap photos and see the playful food plushies brought to life in a fun, kitchen-inspired showcase. The demonstrations run from 11am to 3pm and 4pm to 8pm. Food plushies retail from $23 onwards, offering a uniquely Singaporean keepsake for visitors to bring home. Nostalgic yet playful, the pop-up celebrates the local flavours, cultural icons and everyday experiences that continue to bring Singaporeans together.
Celebrate Singapore’s National Day Beneath the Waves at Singapore Oceanarium
This August, Singapore Oceanarium marks Singapore’s 61st birthday with a special National Day programme at Open Ocean habitat, bringing together music, heritage and community in a uniquely ocean-inspired setting.
From 8 to 10 August, guests can meet Singapore Oceanarium’s manta mascot at 3pm and receive a National Day flag giveaway. The celebrations continue at 3.30pm with a presentation of the Singapore Flag in the Open Ocean habitat, where divers will carry out a special underwater showcase set to familiar heritage songs. Against the backdrop of one of the oceanarium’s most iconic habitats, the patriotic display invites audiences to sing along and reflect on the shared spirit of Singapore’s National Day.
Celebrations continue with Open Score Project, a Singaporean ensemble that aims to celebrate Singapore’s diverse cultures through music. On 9 August, they will be performing “Singapore Heartbeat”, a one-day musical showcase celebrating Singapore’s multicultural heritage through song. Taking place at 12.30pm and 2pm, the interactive performances will feature beloved local tunes including Di Tanjong Katong, Xi Shui Chang Liu (细水长流) and Raravenu Gopabala, inviting guests to sing along and participate in a shared musical experience that reflects the nation’s diversity and unity.
Savour Singapore-inspired Creations Across RWS
National Day celebrations continue across RWS’ dining destinations, where chefs are celebrating local flavours through limited-time creations inspired by Singapore’s culinary heritage. Leading the line-up is Pierre Hermé Paris Singapore, recently named World’s Best Pastry Shop by La Liste. Available from 30 July to 10 August, the acclaimed pâtisserie unveils a special National Day edition of its signature Aura Cake and Aura Ice Cream ($7 per scoop). Distinguished by subtle red accents in honour of Singapore’s birthday, the creations offer a refined nod to the nation’s colours. Guests can purchase the Aura Cake as a slice ($10) or whole cake for four ($65).
At KA-MON, Chef Hal Yamashita brings together Japanese craftsmanship and Singaporean heritage with two National Day specials available from 7 to 10 August. The Chilli Crab Maki ($28) reimagines one of Singapore’s most iconic dishes in sushi form, while the Hainanese Chicken Rice Donabe ($58) interprets the nation’s comfort food through a traditional Japanese claypot preparation, highlighting the shared culinary traditions between two food-obsessed cultures.
Singapore’s enduring kopi culture takes centre stage at Sundae Royale and Moutarde, where a series of desserts celebrates the nation’s favourite brew. The coffee beans used across both concepts are sourced from Costa Rica and roasted locally by the team behind the former cult-favourite café Strangers’ Reunion, bringing together international sourcing and local craftsmanship.
At Sundae Royale, guests can indulge in a selection of kopi-inspired treats, including the Kopi Soft Serve Ice Cream ($7), Kopi & Chocolate Cereals Sundae ($9), Irish Kopi Sundae ($16) and Kopi Milkshake ($10). The menu also features a nostalgic Kaya French Toast ($14), inspired by one of Singapore’s most familiar breakfast traditions.
At Moutarde, Chef Paul Pairet lends his signature French sensibility to local flavours. His Kaya French Toast ($14) features the restaurant’s celebrated brioche topped with kaya pastry cream and caramelised peanuts. For larger gatherings, diners can also enjoy the XXL Singapore Black Pepper Beef Short Rib ($125 for 800g Bone-In), a sharing-sized USDA beef short rib seasoned with Moutarde’s signature Singapore black pepper sauce and fresh herbs, offering a contemporary take on one of Singapore’s defining flavours.
For a comforting local classic, Asian Food Hall introduces the Heritage Assam Fish Curry ($16), featuring red snapper, lady finger, tomato and steamed fragrant rice, available from 7 to 10 August.
Meanwhile, Ora Lounge at Hotel Ora offers two festive pastries from 31 July to 10 August: a Cinnamon Roll with Red & White Cream Cheese ($4.50) and a Soft Bun with Red Crumble, Rose and Milk Custard Filling ($4.50). Diners across participating signature restaurants can also enjoy a complimentary Pandan Coconut Tart with a minimum spend of $61, a nod to Singapore’s 61st year of independence.
