Looking for a Halloween plan that isn’t a pricey theme park on a faraway island? SCARYPURA is family-friendly arts day at 11 Upper Wilkie Road on Saturday 31 October, from 11am to 9pm. Hosted by painters, sculptors, ceramists, actors, directors, gallerists, and a whole team of arts workers, this event looks to provide a more creative, artistic spin on Halloween festivities.
What kids can do:
- From 11am: visit artists’ studios, play around with new materials, learn printmaking (and take home a print!), make your own collectible art, get your face painted – and so much more! (free and paid workshops, starting from SGD$10 and up!)
- 3pm: The Scariest Costume in the World! – a storytelling and cartoon workshop where kids and grown ups can invent their own monsters, led by award-winning filmmaker and bestselling cartoonist Colin Goh
- 6pm: The Nightmare Parade. Come in costume and join the procession. Bonus points for the most Singaporean fear: tuition bills, tiger mums, the haze…
Admission is free, though some artists workshops are priced separately, and will require advance booking. Parents can book sessions at: tinyurl.com/WAC-Artist-Workshops
