Fine jewellery meets morning coffee ritual as Singapore jewellery house State Property and homegrown coffee technology company MORNING come together for a charity auction in support of Rainbow Centre. Born from a shared appreciation for thoughtful design and craftsmanship, the collaboration brings the intricate details of fine jewellery into an unexpected part of the everyday.

Drawing inspiration from State Property’s The Story of Everything collection, three MORNING coffee machines take on the distinctive motifs of The Railroad, The Toadstool and The Cosmic Egg. Each is individually hand-inlaid with mother-of-pearl, translating details originally expressed through precious metals and gemstones onto a striking new form.

From 14 to 25 October 2026, the three one-of-a-kind creations will be auctioned online, with all full proceeds going to Rainbow Centre to support its programmes and services for persons with disabilities and their families. Throughout the auction period, each piece will also be displayed at State Property or MORNING locations in Singapore, offering a closer look at the intricate details and craftsmanship before the pieces find their new homes.

A Three-Year-Old, a Golden Egg and a World Without Rules

From Left to Right: The Railroad, The Toadstool and The Cosmic Egg

The Story of Everything began not in State Property’s design studio, but in the imagination of co-founders Afzal Imram and Lin Ruiyin’s then three-year-old son, Mika.

In his tale, a boy ventures through the cosmos with his partner, Captain Lime, riding railroad loop-the-loops and swooshing past glowing toadstools, all in search of a golden egg.

His story became the foundation of The Story of Everything, a collection that also marks State Property’s tenth anniversary. Born from a bedtime routine, the collection celebrates the beauty in naïveté and what can happen when we listen to the smallest voices.

For the collaboration with MORNING, three motifs from Mika’s universe take on a new form, each hand-crafted in mother-of-pearl across a MORNING coffee machine.

“The Story of Everything began with our son telling us about a world that existed entirely in his imagination. We loved the freedom in the way he told it; there were no rules about where the story could go or what belonged together. That sense of possibility became such an important part of the collection, and it has been wonderful to see it take on another life through our collaboration with MORNING,” said Lin Ruiyin, Co-founder of State Property.

“We had been admirers and customers of MORNING long before this project came about. There was a natural connection between a machine made for that first ritual of the day and a collection that finds the extraordinary in the ordinary. Bringing the two together felt very natural to us, and even more meaningful knowing that the pieces will support the work of Rainbow Centre,” added Afzal Imran, Co-founder of State Property.

“The stronger story is two Singapore-born design brands, working in completely different mediums, but sharing an obsession with objects, craft and everyday rituals,” said Leon Foo, Co-Founder & CEO of MORNING.

The auction will support Rainbow Centre, reflecting a shared belief that a good life is built through everyday experiences, the skills developed along the way and the people who support them. This connection carries added meaning for The Story of Everything, a collection born from a child’s imagination, with Rainbow Centre having worked alongside children and adults with disabilities and their families for nearly forty years.

“We are delighted that State Property and MORNING have chosen Rainbow Centre as the beneficiary of this unique collaboration. It is a wonderful example of how creativity, craftsmanship and purpose can come together to create social impact. Beyond the funds raised, initiatives like these help build greater visibility and understanding of the importance of inclusion for persons with disabilities,” said Peng Hai Ying, Executive Director of Rainbow Centre, Singapore.

Imagination, before breakfast

Each of the three coffee machines takes its design from a motif within The Story of Everything, translated from State Property’s jewellery into hand-laid mother-of-pearl.

The Railroad

Displayed at MORNING @ New Bahru from 14-25 October 2026

The route is rarely straight.

In The Story of Everything, the railroad loops, doubles back and arrives somewhere no map suggested, a journey shaped by the uninhibited logic of a child’s imagination.

On the MORNING machine, the track runs in mother-of-pearl along both sides, each piece laid by hand to trace its winding route. Precise where it needs to be and playful where it wants to be, the design carries the railroad from Mika’s imagined universe onto a new form.

Take the next turn.

The Toadstool

It started with a planet covered in glowing mushrooms.

Mika described it one evening as though he had been there himself. That imagined landscape eventually found its way into The Story of Everything.

For the second machine, the toadstool is pared back until only the pattern of its cap remains. Pieces of mother-of-pearl are set against the black surface, their natural iridescence giving the design a glow of its own.

Look closely and the reference reveals itself: a reminder that ordinary things can be worth looking at twice.

The Cosmic Egg

Displayed at State Property @ Takashimaya S.C, Level 3 from 14-25 October 2026

Everything begins somewhere.

In The Story of Everything, the pieces take on an egg-shaped, cosmic form. Look closer and each gemstone sits within a star-like setting of fine points, holding the stone securely in place.

Across the final MORNING machine, this detail is repeated in mother-of-pearl along the side panels until it begins to resemble a night sky. As light moves across the surface, the natural iridescence of the shell brings subtle shifts in colour and depth to the pattern.

A fitting piece to keep close at the start of the day.
