Dashi Master Marusaya Launches Special Signature Dashi Shabu Course

Dashi Master Marusaya located at 86 Robertson Quay, #01-01 is the flagship restaurant of the Marusaya group specialising in traditonal Dashi Shabu. It has launched its special Signature Dashi Shabu Course featuring seasonal appetiser, chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), assorted sashimi (3 kinds), seasonal dish, dashi shabu, udon or porridge and dessert at an affordable price of S$148++ per person with A5 Wagyu Beef, S$108++ per person with A4 Wagyu Beef and S$88++ per person with pork. Ala carte menu is also available. Dashi Master Marusaya is a 90-seater restaurant comprising of restaurant interior: 48 and alfresco:42 with three private rooms.

We visited Dashi Master Marusaya just before the circuit breaker period to try out its Dashi Shabu and signature ceations. At Dashi Master Marusaya, diners will get to enjoy Marusaya’s signature Dashi that has been carefully prepared with its iconic Dashi Shabu broth using Katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) that took 2 years to process with Rishiri kelp and Satsuma 2-year-old hongare-honbushi. Its dashi is all-natural, nutritious, healthy and full of umami flavours!

Appetisers

Taberu Katsuobushi (Half Dried Bonito Fish Jerky) – S$15++

Ohitashi (Blanched Spinach with Dashi Sauce) – S$9++

Agedashi Tofu (Deep-fried Tofu with Dashi Sauce) – S$12++

Japanese Egg Omelette – S$12++

First up, we started with a variety of delightful appetisers consisting of half dried Bonito fish jerky, blanched Spinach with Dashi Sauce, deep-fried Tofu with Dashi Sauce and Japanese Egg Omelette. 

Hot Item

Dashi Oden S$20++

This comforting Dashi Oden is a Japanese one-pot wonder, full of tasty goodies like konjac, daikon, fishcakes, hard-boiled eggs and homemade chicken meat balls simmered in savory dashi broth. 

Dashi Shabu

You can choose from A4 Wagyu Dashi Shabu – S$68++ per person or Pork Dashi – S$48++ per person. The Dashi Shabu also contains shredded vegetables including Chinese cabbage, carrot, kale, tang oh, leak, shimeji, shiitake and myoga – Japanese ginger. 

This is a popular Japanese-style hot pot where you can put the meat, assorted vegetables and cooked in a flavorful broth.

After we have finished the delicious shabu shabu, the handmade silky Udon and comforting porridge are cooked in the yummy stock and served at the end of it. We enjoyed this delicious Dashi Shabu immensely!

Diners who prefer to go for just the Dashi Shabu can opt for the Dashi Shabu Set with shredded vegetables in pot (including Chinese cabbage, carrot, kale, tang oh, leak, shimeji, shiitake and myoga -Japanese ginger), your choice of meat (A4 Wagyu at S$68++ per person, A5 Wagyu at S$108++ per person, Pork at S$48++ per person and Homemade Chicken Meat Ball in Hotpot at S$38++ per person) and either udon or porridge. 

Dessert

We were served with ice cream (Green Tea, Black Sesame or Vanilla) at S$6++ each at the end of a sumptuous and satisfying meal.
