To commemorate its 25th anniversary, PUTIEN is celebrating not just its milestones, but also sharing the joy with its diners – the reason behind its growth and success throughout these years. From 1 to 15 October 2025, PUTIEN launches a special promotion, with Triple Rewards for all diners.
From Humble Beginnings to Culinary Legacy
PUTIEN was the vision of Uncle Fong, who arrived in Singapore from Putian, China, with his family. Longing for the flavours of his hometown, he searched the island for authentic Putian cuisine but came up empty-handed. Determined to bring those tastes to Singapore, he opened PUTIEN in 2000, a modest 25-seater coffeeshop on Kitchener Road with the goal of sharing Putian cuisine and becoming a leading Chinese restaurant operator worldwide.
A Commitment to Freshness and Quality
Refusing to compromise on standards, Uncle Fong personally visited the Jurong seafood wholesale market every night to select the freshest seafood, even if it meant higher costs. His dedication paid off: PUTIEN quickly gained a reputation for top-quality seafood, and suppliers began reserving their finest catches specifically for him.
Winning Hearts, One Ingredient at a Time
Over time, these same suppliers became loyal patrons, confident they would enjoy the same exceptional quality they provided. Uncle Fong’s steadfast insistence on fresh, high-quality ingredients earned him the nickname “Well-loved Restaurant Owner.” His commitment to the principle of “Quality Ingredients, Original Taste” has driven PUTIEN’s growth over the past 19 years, earning numerous awards and establishing the brand as a regional culinary leader.

Apart from applying various cooking techniques in its kitchens to bring out the original taste in Fujian cuisine, PUTIEN also places importance in using quality ingredients to bring out the best flavours. PUTIEN brings in seasonal raw ingredients and fruits direct from Putian, Fujian, when they are at their freshest, which is a testament to its food philosophy. Through seasonal campaigns, guests at PUTIEN will experience a variety of food and fruits from Putian, four seasons a year.
Over these 25 years, PUTIEN has also expanded islandwide from its Singapore origin at Kitchener Road, as well as to markets in Indonesia (2006), Malaysia (2012), Hong Kong (2014), Shanghai (2015), Taipei, Beijing, Guangzhou (2016–17). Along the way, PUTIEN has been recognised with Michelin stars and Bib Gourmand accolades, while consistently delivering authentic Fujian flavours.
