To make spending even more rewarding, UOB is offering exclusive perks for cardholders:

Up to 25% off hotel bookings via Unravel
Enhanced cashback of 10% on the UOB EVOL Credit Card and 3% on the FX+ Debit Card, on top of existing 0% FX fees
This combined offering allows cardholders whether individuals, groups of friends, or families to enjoy instant rewards, savings, and convenience while exploring Johor. From dining and shopping to travel, the feature ensures that every trip across the Causeway provides greater value and flexibility.
Why This Matters
UOB’s data shows growing cross-border consumer spending:
Singapore UOB cardholders spent nearly 15% more overseas in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
Spending in Malaysia increased by 20%, with Johor accounting for almost 50% of total Malaysian spending.
While the average transaction size in Johor has slightly decreased, the number of transactions has more than tripled from 2022 to 2024, indicating more frequent trips and lower-ticket purchases.
Dining is the top spending category (15% of billings), followed by supermarkets (10%) and apparel (9%).
This means that users including families taking trips across the Causeway can enjoy frequent small purchases, whether for meals, groceries, or shopping, while stretching their UNI$ rewards points further. Families can particularly benefit from dining and shopping deals while managing budgets on multi-person trips.
