A night show by several Pikachus was held at The Promontory@Marina Bay today, 18 November 2022.

The show is part of Pokémon Air Adventures, a CSR initiative by Pokémon. During the night show, nine Pikachus, led by Afro Pikachu, entertained the audience with a music and dance performance. There was also a surprise production using 500 drones, which decorated the night sky of Marina Bay with special light structures, which included many different Pokémon Characters, along with aeroplanes.

The night show is scheduled to run again over the weekend, 19 – 20 November 2022 from 19:30 and is free to watch, but entry will be capped based on the number of visitors and may be subject to change or cancellation in the event of wet weather. Overall, The Pokémon Company (TPC) is expecting up to 7,500 visitors over the weekend to join them in some Pikachu-related fun.

After achieving massive popularity in Okinawa, the drone show is now live in Singapore for the first time outside of Japan. The impressive display was specially created to celebrate Pokémon GO’s sixth anniversary.

Pokémon GO Safari Zone: Singapore took place at Gardens by the Bay, alongside the Pikachu Night Show. Pokémon GO players can look forward to a fun weekend of Pokémon Air Adventures gameplay, with ticket holders encountering Pokémon characters themed around Pokémon Air Adventures, such as Flying Pikachu and Lapras. The Central and South American region-specific Pokémon, Maractus, will also be present at the event in Singapore for the duration of the weekend, and Shiny Purrloin will make its debut in the game as well. The Pokémon GO Safari Zone was also previously held in Singapore in 2019.

Pokémon GO players who were unable to get tickets for the event can still take part in the activities, by joining Mega Raids featuring the Mega Latias and Mega Latios. Team GO Rocket will also appear more frequently in balloons, and Pokémon Air Adventures stickers will be available as well during the weekend.

These events follow a series of Pokémon activations in Singapore as part of the Pokémon Air Adventures campaign. Kickstarted by a collaboration with Scoot, it included the unveiling of the Pikachu Jet TR which featured a unique livery and themed inflight amenities and experiences, including Pikachu-related merchandise.

It is TPC’s hope that the Pokémon Air Adventures campaign acts as a catalyst to encourage people to start travelling again with vigour, as borders begin to reopen after the pandemic. They have affirmed this hope with the unveiling of the Pikachu Jet TR as a symbol of connectivity and joy among communities. The Pikachu Night Show and the Pokémon GO Safari Zone: Singapore are both activations part of this campaign, in a bid to boost Singapore as a tourist destination.

Susumu Fukunaga, Corporate Officer, The Pokémon Company shared, “The Pokémon Air Adventures campaign is an exciting initiative that hopes to create an opportunity for people to start travelling freely. As long-time travel restrictions come to a close, we want to continue doing our part to encourage adventure again, the Pokémon way. Having done this in Okinawa and Taipei, we are proud to have achieved this here in Singapore, today.”
