Looking for a relaxing staycation in Singapore where you can enjoy good food, a comfortable room and a change of scenery without travelling far? COMO Metropolitan Singapore in the heart of Orchard Road offers just that.
Located at 30 Bideford Road within COMO Orchard, the hotel is part of a 19-floor integrated destination that brings together accommodation, dining, wellness, fashion and lifestyle experiences. COMO Metropolitan Singapore has 156 rooms and suites, with several dining and lifestyle experiences within the same development.
We stayed at COMO Metropolitan Singapore for a 3-day, 2-night staycation, and we were impressed by how easy it was to simply settle in and enjoy ourselves. With COMO Orchard’s dining options and Orchard Road right outside, we could enjoy plenty during our stay without spending much time travelling between places.
A Comfortable Stay in the Emerald King Room
We stayed in an Emerald King Room, which measures approximately 33 to 38 square metres and features wall-to-wall windows overlooking the city.
The room feels spacious, comfortable and bright, with plenty of natural light coming through the large windows. We liked having enough space to relax and unwind, and the room felt welcoming from the moment we walked in.
One thing we appreciated was that the room was also well equipped for a longer or more relaxed stay. There is a small pantry with a microwave and private bar, along with a complimentary minibar and snacks that are replenished daily. There are also Nespresso coffee and tea-making facilities, it was easy to make ourselves a cup of coffee or tea whenever we wanted a quiet moment in the room.
The en-suite bathroom comes with a rainfall shower, bidet and COMO Shambhala bathroom amenities. After a day out, having a comfortable bathroom and a good shower made it easy to freshen up and settle back into the room.
We also liked the little conveniences that made the room feel more like a comfortable space to stay in rather than simply somewhere to sleep. From the well-stocked minibar and snacks to the coffee and tea facilities and pantry area, there was plenty to make the room feel self-contained and practical.
After a busy day, it was nice to come back to a room that felt calm and comfortable. For a staycation, this is important because you really want the room to feel like somewhere you can slow down rather than simply a place to sleep.
Experiencing SleepHub®
Another feature we enjoyed during our stay was SleepHub®, which is available in every guest room and suite at COMO Metropolitan Singapore.
SleepHub® uses low-frequency sound technology as part of its sleep programme. We could adjust the volume and sound settings to our preference, and there are also optional soundscapes such as falling rain, ocean waves, natural wind and other sounds.
After a full day out, we would come back to the room, get comfortable and wind down for the night. It was nice having SleepHub® available, with different soundscapes that we could choose from before going to sleep.
Afternoon Tea at Cédric Grolet
One of the first things we enjoyed during our stay was afternoon tea at Cédric Grolet Singapore.
Located within COMO Orchard, Cédric Grolet brings the renowned French pastry chef’s creations to Singapore. It is his first patisserie in Asia, with pastries and desserts inspired by fruits and flowers.
The afternoon tea gave us a lovely excuse to slow down and enjoy something delightful together.
For staycation, we always enjoy having a few experiences planned but not so many that the whole trip starts feeling like a schedule. Sitting down for afternoon tea was a nice way to ease into our stay.
A Lovely Breakfast at COMO Cuisine
The next morning, we had breakfast at COMO Cuisine.
We enjoyed the variety available, with both international favourites and local flavours to choose from. There were freshly baked pastries, seasonal fruits, yoghurt, cereals and a selection of breakfast dishes.
It was a lovely breakfast to have during our stay, with so many choices to enjoy. It was hearty and delicious, and a great way to start our day.
Lunch at COTE Singapore
For lunch, we headed to COTE Singapore on Level 3.
We had the Butcher’s Feast set with a house pour, and it was a very different experience from the afternoon tea and breakfast we had enjoyed earlier.
COTE combines the conviviality of a refined Korean barbecue experience with the hallmarks of an American steakhouse, offering a different dining experience from the other restaurants within COMO Orchard.
For us, this was part of what made the staycation enjoyable, we could simply decide what we wanted to eat and walk downstairs or take the lift rather than spending time travelling around Singapore.
Sundowners at Sky Bar
Later in the afternoon, we headed up to Sky Bar on Level 19 for sundowners.
The rooftop setting gave us a lovely view of the city, and we enjoyed sitting back with our drinks as the day started to wind down. We also took some time to enjoy a swim in the rooftop pool before settling down for our sundowners.
It was a lovely spot to relax and chill, enjoy the pool and take in the city views with a drink in hand.
Wellness and Fitness at COMO Shambhala
COMO Shambhala Singapore on Level 4 offers a range of wellness and fitness facilities. These include a 1,500 sq ft fitness gym, two Pilates studios, two yoga studios, a Red Light Therapy Room, Contrast Therapy Rooms and an Oxygen Therapy Space.
It is nice to have these facilities within the hotel, whether you want to fit in a workout, join a yoga or Pilates session, or simply explore some of the wellness experiences available during your stay.
A Great Staycation Destination for Families
COMO Metropolitan Singapore is a great choice for a family staycation, with its convenient location in the heart of Orchard Road and plenty of dining and experiences available within COMO Orchard.
Its location made it easy for us to head out for shopping, dining and other activities, while still having the hotel as a comfortable place to return to afterwards.
We also liked having so many dining options within COMO Orchard itself, serving excellent food throughout our stay. During our stay, we could simply enjoy our meals within the same destination without having to spend time travelling around Singapore.
For us, it was a nice balance between spending time together as a family and enjoying the different experiences throughout our stay, from afternoon tea and dining to relaxing by the pool and having drinks at Sky Bar.
A City Stay Without the Travel
One thing we really enjoyed about this staycation was how easy it was to settle into a different pace without leaving Singapore.
Over the three days, we had plenty of time to enjoy our meals, spend time in the room, swim, have afternoon tea and unwind with a drink at Sky Bar. Everything came together naturally without the stay feeling rushed.
It gave us that little feeling of being away for a break, while still being right in the middle of the city.
Our Takeaway
We were impressed by our stay at COMO Metropolitan Singapore.
What we enjoyed most was simply being able to slow down and enjoy the stay at our own pace. From our comfortable Emerald King Room and the different dining experiences to our swim and drinks at Sky Bar, there was plenty to enjoy throughout our stay.
For us, it was a relaxing city escape and a lovely reminder that a staycation can feel like a proper break even when you are still in Singapore.
