In celebration of the coming National Day, diners can look forward to Baba Chews’ SG55 National Day offers. About Baba Chews, the name “Baba Chews” pays homage to Mr. Chew Joo Chiat (1857–1926), a wealthy local Chinese landowner and philanthropist, known as the ‘King of Katong’ for his contributions to the local community. The restaurant is located within the historical Old Joo Chiat Police Station building at Katong and well-known for serving a diverse menu consisting of Mod-Sin (Modern Singaporean) dishes, local favourites, and Western comfort dishes along with quality brews from Common Man Coffee Roasters & TWG tea, beers and alcoholic beverages.
Baba Chews is helmed by Head Chef, Chef Soon Yuen Li who has 13 years of kitchen and F&B management experience across restaurants and hospitality establishments in Singapore and three years of pupillage under Executive Chef Alvin Leong. He now overseas the culinary planning and operations at Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong and Baba Chews Bar & Eatery.

Modern-Singaporean Beef Rendang Pizza
We were very impressed with the Modern-Singaporean Beef Rendang Pizza. This is the latest creation that has a local twist to it, filled with loads of shredded beef, cooked in rich and flavourful Rendang sauce placed on top of a tomato based thin pizza crust, sprinkled generously with onions, mozzarella, achar, grated coconut & lime leaf. Simply delicious!
