Interview with Ezam Ernady of Mediacorp RIA 897

1) What is it like raising an all-girls household, and what have been the most surprising lessons?Ezam

Ezam Ernady: Raising four girls is honestly a full-time experience on its own. Each of them has a completely different personality. My first born is clingy and loves singing and dancing, my second is a natural leader and very helpful, my third is the “little queen” who’s friendly and talkative, and the youngest… she just loves to eat and brings joy with her chubby energy.

The most surprising lesson is how much they shape me as a father. I went in thinking I needed to lead them, but actually, they teach me patience, softness, and how to understand emotions better. In a house full of girls, you learn quickly that communication and presence matter more than anything else.

2) How do you manage time and energy between a large family and a demanding career?

Ezam Ernady: To be honest, it is still a constant challenge for me. My schedule is quite packed. I send them to school in the mornings, fetch them in the afternoons, and spend the evenings preparing before heading to work for my night shift from 8pm to 11pm.

Time management is my biggest challenge, but I always make it a point to be present during the pockets of time I have. Even simple moments like car rides, dinner conversations, or short playtime together matter, and I try to make the most of them. I also rely heavily on structure at home, and my wife plays a huge role in keeping the household running smoothly.

3) Can you share a moment that made you feel proud of the unique bond with your daughters?

Ezam Ernady: One of my proudest moments is seeing how they bond with me through music. Whether it is singing, playing the guitar, or even the drums, we do it together and truly enjoy those moments.

Another is when they draw me as a superhero, protecting and saving the family. That really hits differently. It reminds me that, in their eyes, I am more than just their father — I am their protector and role model.

4) How has having four children shaped your priorities and outlook on life?

Ezam Ernady: Having four daughters has changed me completely, both emotionally and physically. Each of them has shaped me in a different way.

My priorities have always been the same: family comes first. No matter how busy work gets, I always remind myself why I am doing all this in the first place. To me, success is not only about career growth, but also about being present in my children’s lives.

5) What strategies help you maintain strong family connections amidst your work commitments?

Ezam Ernady: For me, it comes down to routine and intention. We have daily structures at home such as dinner time conversations, chores, study time, and playtime.

Weekends are non-negotiable. We go out, visit their grandparents, and spend time with extended family. That bonding time is very important to me. Even with a tight schedule, I make sure there’s always space for connection and bonding.

6) How do you teach values or life lessons to your daughters while juggling your work schedule?

Ezam Ernady: I focus on three main values: discipline, respect, and kindness.

I don’t just lecture them. I will usually sit down and talk to them, especially during dinner.

Communication is key in our household. I also believe in leading by example. The routines we set, like helping around the house, respecting time, and treating each other well. Those are everyday lessons for them.

7) How has parenting a larger family shaped your outlook on life, your priorities, and your resilience?

Ezam Ernady: Parenting four children has definitely built my resilience. There have been tough moments, especially when some of them had to be hospitalised because of asthma they inherited from me. That was very hard for me as a parent.

At the same time, those experiences have made me mentally stronger. They remind me that I need to keep going, remain steady, and always be there for them, no matter what.

8) How do you balance family responsibilities with the demands of a career in entertainment, and what advice would you give to others in similar situations?

Ezam Ernady: Honestly, balancing family responsibilities and career demands is difficult, and it will never be perfect. But I believe parenting becomes easier when you choose to approach it in a way that feels manageable. Even with my busy schedule, I always make time to talk to my children, play with them, and guide them whenever I can.

My advice is simple: be present. Talk to your children, play with them, and show them love and affection. They need you more than anything else, and truthfully, we need them too.

At the end of the day, seeing them sleep peacefully and knowing I am able to provide for them is what keeps me going and inspires me to do better every single day.

Ezam Ernady exemplifies the harmony between professional success and devoted fatherhood. His story reminds us that with structure, presence, and communication, it is possible to excel in a demanding career while nurturing meaningful family bonds.

Whether on air or at home, Ezam Ernady’s dedication to his daughters and his craft sets an inspiring example of what it means to be a modern father and media professional.
