Fun and Exciting 2D1N ‘Chio’ Camping Experience at Singapore Discovery Centre

This June holidays, the highly raved ‘camp-cation’ is back by popular demand! Singapore Discovery Centre (SDC) together with KKday, Asia’s leading travel experiences platform is bringing back Camp 1N the second time for this June Holiday. Camp 1N will be running on weekdays till 24 June 2022.

We went for the 2D1N ‘Chio’ Camping Experience recently and had such a great time attending the family-friendly and fun-filled activities together as a family! It was a wonderful and memorable experiences for all of us!

Upon arriving at our camp site, we can’t wait to check out our tent. There are two types of camping experiences available, choose from either the ‘Shiok’ Camping Experience (indoor tents) at $499 for SDC members and $599 for non-members, or the ‘Chio’ Outdoor Glamping Experience (outdoor camping by the Discovery Lake) at $699 for SDC members and $799 for non-members.

Welcome Camp Kit

Ours is the ‘Chio’ Camping Experience and can accommodate up to 4 persons. It comes with two queen-sized foam beds, six pillows, 2 blankets, a fan, a portable air conditioner, and power sockets. The camp also comes with Camp T-shirts, Welcome Camp Kit with lots of snacks and drinks, family meals with a selection of food choices for dinner and breakfast at Bottle Tree Cafe Restaurant, one complimentary parking coupon per tent, and other free and easy activities.

After we had settled down, we moved on to our first activity, the specially curated ‘Army Days’ Experience by SDC. At this interesting activity, our boys have a go at trying their hands at camo face painting, introduction to what does a soldier carry in his backpack and how to pack all the items, doing field cooking which is chicken pasta and have a go at basha tent pitching. This activity will allow kids to have an idea of how it is like to be a Singapore’s soldier and for the adults to relive memories of their days in the army.

Next activity is the the multi-sensorial Black Lake Facility (Escape Room), consisting of adventure across 13 rooms and 4 story chapters. During your free and easy time, if you enjoy rides, the camping experiences come with unlimited 4D simulator rides in the XD Theatre. For nature-loving campers, you can also ride a pedal boat around the scenic Discovery Lake during your free time. After the exciting escape room adventure, we embarked on our next activity, having a blast at Black Lake Laser Battlefield (Laser Tag) which our boys enjoyed playing. It was a fun and immersive experiences for all of us!

Night Mission Trail

It’s dinner time! We were treated to a sumptuous meal at Bottle Tree Cafe Restaurant and now we are full of energy to move on to our next activity, Night Mission Trail. The is a one hour fun activity where the whole family embark on a treasure hunt to find the clues to answer the questions in the activity booklet. The first family to complete and or answer most of the questions correctly will get to win a prize at the end.

Feeling hungry after the Night Mission Trail? The camping experience concludes the night with ‘Get Toasty by the Lake’, a cosy mini barbeque experience for campers to bond by the lake, under a blanket of glittering stars amidst the night sky. The food that we had consisted of marshmallow, sausages, otah, satay and drinks.

Rise and Shine! In the morning, we woke up to a bright and sunny day, first up, let’s get our body moving by doing a morning workout at Discovery Land at 8am. For both dinner on the first day and breakfast the next day, you can get to order your meal preferences based on their menu provided before you go for the camp. Food will be served upon your arrival at Bottle Tree Cafe Restaurant.

Eco-Sustainability tour

After breakfast, we get to complete the camping experience by learning more about sustainability! we joined the Eco-Sustainability tour, participated in a hands-on microgreen planting workshop and get to bring home our very own DIY plant thereafter.
