Summer travel remains a priority for Singapore travellers, according to Skyscanner’s 2026 Smarter Summer report. Despite ongoing uncertainty, 60% of Singapore travellers are confident about their ability to travel abroad in the next three months, and 91% are planning to travel during the European summer between July and August.

While only 35% are yet to book their summer holidays, they are actively searching for options, demonstrating sustained interest in travel despite the complexities of planning.

Main Planning Challenges

Singapore travellers face several hurdles when planning summer holidays:

  • Finding affordable options that fit their travel circumstances (32%)
  • The time and effort required to research and coordinate dates (24%)
  • Decision paralysis due to uncertain plans or too many options (22%)

Skyscanner Travel Trends and Destination Expert, Brendan Walsh, shares:

“For many travellers, summer travel planning isn’t just about inspiration. It’s about navigating real hurdles – working around fixed dates, coordinating with others, avoiding crowds, and trying not to overpay in the busiest travel season of the year. In today’s more complex travel environment, thoughtful planning matters more than ever. That’s why this year’s Smarter Summer report is designed to help Singapore travellers make more confident choices on when and where to travel, using Skyscanner’s proprietary data to highlight smarter timings, better-value options and alternative destinations.

In a more changeable travel environment, checking live prices and staying flexible on where and when you travel can go a long way when it comes to finding better value. This includes mixing and matching between
airlines and airports to curate your best travel plan. More importantly, travellers should stay informed and check the latest travel advice before booking.”

Walsh emphasizes that checking live prices, staying flexible with dates and destinations, and following travel advice can help travellers find better value.

Outsmart the Fixed Summer Travel Dates

Many travellers are unsure which week offers the best deals with 25% admit they do not know. Skyscanner’s data identifies the week of 10th August as offering the best value for flights, within the summer period of July and August.

For Bangkok, the most popular destination among Singapore travellers, the week starting 31 August offers the lowest average ticket price at SGD $164. Skyscanner’s Price Alert feature allows travellers to monitor specific routes and receive notifications when prices change.

Outsmart the Cost of Summer Travel

Flight prices continue to influence travel decisions, with 59% of travellers saying prices have made them reconsider their plans. Flexibility can help, as 42% of Singapore travellers are able to adjust timing or destinations to manage costs.

Skyscanner recommends additional strategies: travelling in cheaper weeks, considering alternative destinations, checking live fares, and using the Drops feature for hourly flight price reductions of at least 20%.

Affordable alternative destinations include:

  • Langkawi, Malaysia – From SGD $127
  • Krabi, Thailand – From SGD $173
  • Cebu, Philippines – From SGD $224

Note: Prices reflect median return economy fares, excluding promotional fares, based on Skyscanner data from 1 January to 1 March 2026. Live prices may vary.

Outsmart the Summer Crowds

A significant majority of Singapore travellers (76%) say visiting somewhere that none of their friends, family, or social feed have been to before is appealing – rising to 83% among Gen Z, and more than half of them would choose to visit a quieter, less crowded destination this summer.

Skyscanner has analysed its summer search data to identify places with the lowest search interest this season, with their travel experts then handpicking places that are less obvious, but still well worth discovering, including destinations such as Johannesburg, Venice and Urumqi.

While the full list can be found in the appendix, travellers can leverage the ‘underrated destinations’ filter on Explore Everywhere function for more options.

Outsmart Group Travel Planning Hurdles

Planning group summer holidays is known to be effortful – 58% of Singapore travellers say planning a group holiday is more stressful than planning a wedding, while 56% say it is more stressful than starting a new job. The biggest planning hurdles are practical ones, with 2 in 5 (40%) saying aligning on travel dates is one of the hardest parts and 31% saying managing preferences for flights, accommodation or activities is a key challenge. One way to save time is by using Skyscanner’s hotel filters to narrow stays by the things groups care about most, from price and room set-up to pool access and free cancellation.
